British Defense Minister Michael Fallon said there is a "real and present danger" that Russia will try to destabilize the Baltic countries and that tensions between Moscow and NATO are "heating up".
The Times and the Daily Telegraph today announced that in a conversation with their reporters during a trip to Sierra Leone, Fallon expressed concern about the pressure of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the former Soviet republics of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, which are also members of NATO.
Russia, Fallon warned, could use the same tactics as in Ukraine for the annexation of Crimea, BBC reports.
"I'm worried about Putin, I'm worried about his pressure on the Baltics, about the way he's testing NATO," Fallon said.
The head of British diplomacy said that NATO must be ready for Russian aggression "in whatever form it takes".
