Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu today called on the Kurds in Turkey to give up holding tomorrow's solidarity actions with the defenders of the Syrian city of Kobani.
Several Kurdish parties, movements and organizations have called for rallies and demonstrations of support for the defenders of Kobani, who have been repelling attacks by members of the Islamic State (ISIL) for more than a month, to be held worldwide on November 1.
Among the initiators is the pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party of Turkey, and the invitation, reports the Russian agency, was supported by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Argentine Adolfo Peres Esquivel and American linguist and writer Noam Chomsky.
"I call on our citizens not to respond to these calls. Such actions do not contribute to the process of peaceful resolution of the Kurdish issue," Davutoglu said, adding that the initiators had not learned a lesson from the recent protests that were followed by mass riots, during which 42 people died.
