Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized today in Paris the international coalition that is bombing positions of extremists from the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, claiming that it is only bombing the Kurdish city of Kobani in Syria near the border with Turkey.
"Why do the coalition forces constantly bomb the city of Kobani?... Why don't they bomb other cities (in Syria) like Idlib?", said Erdogan, who is visiting Paris, where he was received by his French counterpart Francois Hollande.
"Kobani is constantly mentioned, which is on the border with Turkey and where there is almost no one left except for 2.000 fighters," the Turkish president added.
Turkish authorities last Sunday, under pressure from the US, allowed Iraqi Kurds to pass through its territory to Kobani, although they had previously stated that they would not allow any military ground units to be sent to the Syrian city.
Islamic State launched an offensive on Kobani in mid-September in hopes of taking control of Syria's third Kurdish city.
