Seven people were injured, four of them seriously, on Sunday evening in an attack by a man armed with a knife and a bar in Paris, the local police said.
The attacker has been arrested, and as the BBC has learned from a police source, he is allegedly a man of Afghan origin.
The source states that at this stage there are currently no indications that this is a terrorist act.
AFP writes that two British tourists are among the injured.
The attack took place on Sunday around 23 pm in the northeastern part of the French capital, and the attacker initially stabbed two men and a woman with a knife.
People who were nearby tried to stop the attacker, Hina agency reports.
However, he managed to escape, and after that he attacked two British tourists in one of the side streets.
One of the eyewitnesses told AFP that the attacker was chased by about 20 people.
