A gold-colored statue representing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the pose of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was erected in the central German city of Wiesbaden as part of a "bad news" festival.
Erdogan, with his right hand raised, is featured in a statue similar to the one depicting Hussein, which was toppled by US forces during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The local newspaper Wiesbadener Kurier writes that the statue was erected yesterday in the city center. The city authorities approved this project as part of the current art festival, but they did not know that the Turkish president would be represented, the newspaper writes. The organizers of the festival are currently unavailable for comment.
