Children who were evacuated from Slavyansk in the east of Ukraine, where fighting is ongoing between the Ukrainian army and pro-Russian separatists, have arrived in Crimea.
The children are placed in summer camps, Crimean Information Minister Dmitry Polonsky told Itar-Tass.
He said that the Crimean authorities are doing everything in their power to make children feel good in Crimea, which recently joined Russia.
"At the moment, not all camps of the youth center "Artek" can receive children due to objective reasons, so the children who arrived from Slavjansk are placed in institutions that will be adapted so that they will be comfortable in them, added Polonski.
According to unofficial data, about 200 children from Slavjansk came to Crimea yesterday.
One of the people who followed the group of children, Olga Gadjatskaja, said that 172 people came to Crimea, of which 25 were adults, and the rest were children between the ages of eight and 16.
Another small group arrived at the "Artek" children's center in Crimea and these children were later taken to another camp.
There were no problems when the group crossed the border between Ukraine and Russia, Gadjatskaya added.
