Turkey: Two buses full of weapons seized

Turkish police seized today two buses full of weapons and ammunition in the southern province of Adana, near the border with Syria, local media reported.

The buses were on their way to the Turkish border police in Hatay, the Dogan agency said, adding that the weapons were hidden in the luggage compartment.

The local prosecutor's office and the local police have not officially confirmed the seizure, Reuters reported.

Turkey has come under criticism that it has contributed to the strengthening of radical groups by allowing foreign fighters to cross the border. Ankara denies arming the rebels.

There have been more weapons seizures in recent months.

In November last year, 1.200 missile warheads were seized. The weapon was found in a truck that was stopped in Adana, about 50 kilometers from the Syrian border.
