The Vatican confirmed today that Pope Emeritus Benedict's health has worsened, London's "Telegraph" reported.
Benedict, 85, has appeared increasingly frail in his last few public appearances since leaving office on February 28, the British newspaper reports.
He looked particularly bad when his successor, Pope Francis, visited him in Castel Gandolfo.
"Benedict is in a very bad condition. In the last 15 days he has weakened considerably physically," said the Spanish correspondent from the Vatican, Paloma Gomez Borero.
It was planned that Benedict would move to a monastery inside the Vatican walls next month, but Gomez Borero said that she thought it was unlikely that, due to his deteriorating health, the former pope would spend much more time there.

"I don't think he's going to stay with us much longer," she said.
Vatican sources consider her statements exaggerated. However, they admit that the Pope's health condition in peace has deteriorated greatly in recent months.
