King Juan Carlos of Spain was admitted to a hospital in Madrid today for an operation on a herniated disc.
It will be his fourth operation in a year and the twelfth in his life.
The 75-year-old monarch rolled down his car window and told reporters and television cameramen gathered outside the La Merced clinic, "Here I am again."
Juan Carlos had a hip operation in November, and in the last two years he has had several health problems.
Among other things, he had an operation on his knee and a benign lung tumor was removed.
