Princess of Monaco Charlotte Casiraghi appeared at an equestrian competition dressed in traditional American Indian clothing, which is why she came under fire from some of the public, as her move was described as racist and offensive to Native Americans.
"Charlotte Kaziraghi chose an outfit that has been publicly labeled as racist over and over again"
Princess Charlotte participated in the equestrian tournament in Paris dressed in an Indian costume with a feather on her head, modeled after Indian chiefs, with warrior colors on her face. This angered some social media users, including fans of the Monaco royal family.
"Dear Charlotte Casiraghi, American Indians are and continue to be victims of racism, ignorance and abuse simply because they are Native American. You have shown very poor judgment in your choice of clothing," wrote one Tumblr user.
Given that "Victoria's Secret", "Urban Outfitters" and Gwen Stefani have previously received similar criticism for costumes like this one, the fashion site "Stylit" asked the question whether the responsibility lies with the sponsor of the competition in Paris, the fashion company "Gucci".
"Charlotte Casiraghi chose an outfit that has been publicly labeled racist over and over again," wrote fashion journalist Hilary George-Parkin.
