The lower house of the Spanish parliament is debating the confidence in the government of Mariano Rajoy, which has been in power for almost eight years, and tomorrow there will be a vote of deputies.
They will decide whether the leader of the socialist opposition will replace Rajoy, the AP agency reported.
Socialist leader Pedro Sanchez, who is leading the vote of no confidence in Rajoy, could immediately become Spain's new prime minister if he gets 176 or more votes in the lower house of parliament.
Rajoy refused to resign after his People's Party received a huge fine for taking bribes.
The court last week questioned Rajoy's and other senior party officials' claim that they were unaware of the illegal activities.
The debate on confidence in the government will take place today and tomorrow, when Rajoy's fate will be known after the vote.
