An earthquake measuring 5,8 on the Richter scale was registered near the island of Rhodes, between northwestern Greece and Turkey.
The epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred yesterday, was located 73 kilometers southwest of Rhodes at a depth of 37 kilometers, judging by the report of the Athens Seismic Observatory, which states that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5,8 degrees.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Institute reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6 on the Richter scale.
Greece and Turkey are located in a seismic zone and, during the last decade, their territories have been frequently affected by earthquakes.
