Denmark's Queen Margrethe said today that the oldest European monarchy can be ruled perfectly well without modern inventions such as the Internet and mobile phones, reports AP.
Speaking to reporters, the Danish queen said that while other members of her family "find it amusing that she doesn't use a mobile phone," she herself doesn't think she needs one.
When asked by a Norwegian journalist why she is not interested in modern means of communication, 71-year-old Margreta replied that it is "very peaceful" to be disconnected.
"I'm perfectly fine the way things are, thanks for asking," she added cheerfully.
Queen Margrethe spoke to reporters at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of her accession to the Danish throne, which will be marked this weekend.
Her family traces back to the Viking kings in the 10th century.
