British Prime Minister Theresa May has appointed Stephen Barclay as the new Brexit Secretary.
Barkley was the state secretary in the Ministry of Health, and in the 2016 referendum, he voted for Great Britain's exit from the European Union (EU), reports Al Jazeera Balkans.
May will reportedly oversee the last ten days of negotiations with the EU on the framework for future relations.
Barkley will pay the most attention to the internal readiness for Brexit and the adoption of May's proposal in the Parliament
"He will have an internal role," said the British Prime Minister's secretary.
Barkley replaces Dominik Raab, who resigned on Thursday over a draft plan to leave the EU.
Former Home Secretary Amber Rudd has been appointed Work and Pensions Secretary, after Esther McVeigh resigned over May's plan.
Barclay, a former banker, was previously secretary of state at the Treasury.
A lawyer by profession, Barclay has worked on the regulation of financial services and on the prevention of financial crime.
