British ministers have been alerted to the possibility that suicide bomber attacks could take place during the Olympic Games in that country next year.
Secret reports from the British government state that around 2.000 extremists are based in the UK. Intelligence services there fear that attacks could happen in public places, rather than on sports fields.
One source in the British press said that extremists could only be prevented by "random interception" or intelligence operations.
Referring to the 2005 London suicide attack, an intelligence official said:
"We may have only had one successful suicide attack in the UK, but that doesn't mean there can't be more. Terrorists are constantly training and adapting to new conditions," the source said.
Even documents released on WikiLeaks showed that MI6 secret service officers believed that the UK would face a wave of terrorist attacks.
In Britain this year, 70 terrorists were released whose movements will not be tracked.
"These people demand maximum surveillance, and we won't be able to do that," the source said.
