British Prime Minister Theresa May called on EU leaders to make more concessions in difficult Brexit negotiations.
May, in a column in the German newspaper Welt before tonight's meeting with the EU leaders in Salzburg, called for finding a common language in the Brexit negotiations.
She demanded that EU leaders soften their stance on the Irish border issue, although the general tone of the column was conciliatory.
"Neither side can demand unacceptable things from the other, such as external customs borders between different parts of Great Britain," May said, referring to the possibility that customs regulations in Northern Ireland would be different than in the rest of the country.
The chief European negotiator for Brexit, Michel Barnier, said that the EU is ready to present a new proposal on the Irish border.
