The British government is considering Russia's request for access to the daughter of former spy Sergei Skripal, who was poisoned with nerve gas together with him, British officials announced today.

The British Foreign Office said it was considering Russia's request to meet Yulia Skripal, a Russian citizen, "in accordance with its obligations under international law and the laws of Great Britain."

When making a decision, the government will take into account "the rights and wishes of Yulia Skripal", according to the announcement. Another example of worsening relations is today's complaint by the Russian embassy in Great Britain about the search of a Russian plane that flew from Moscow to London's Heathrow Airport yesterday. The embassy stated that the search of that plane was a violation of international law, and added that Moscow had sent a diplomatic note, demanding an explanation.
