An unnamed Swiss man who worked as a social worker for 30 years has admitted to sexually abusing children and infirm adults during his 30 years of work.
He worked in 9 nursing homes, and admitted to 8 attempted abuses, mostly in Bern and the surrounding area.
The investigation was started when two victims reported the abuse to the Swiss police, the BBC reports.
Police from Bern stated that there are photos and videos that prove the abuse.
"One of the key questions of the investigation is how such actions managed to go unnoticed for so long," said Gabriela Berger, head of the special investigative units of the Bern police.
He was already accused of abuse 8 years ago, but then there was no evidence, and the investigation was suspended.
As ATS reports, the case was reported by a mentally retarded 13-year-old girl.
Most of the victims were mentally or physically retarded young men, but there were also women among the victims.
The youngest victim was only one year old at the time of the abuse.
