British Prime Minister Theresa May indicated today that she is ready to accept a longer Brexit delay if the EU insists on it, but on the condition that Great Britain can leave the EU before the new date if parliament approves the withdrawal agreement.
Arriving at an EU summit dedicated to Brexit, May said she "regrets a lot" that her country still hasn't left the EU. Other leaders are considering her request to delay the Brexit date to give British politicians more time to approve the proposed deal.
The EU, however, wants a longer delay.
"It is important that the delay allows us to withdraw when the withdrawal agreement is adopted," May said.
She expressed hope that it could happen on May 22.
