The organization WikiLeaks has accused powerful actors, including the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), of sophisticated activities to dehumanize its founder Julian Assange, who is today arrested at the Embassy of Ecuador in London.
"This man (Assange) is a son, a father, a brother. He is the winner of dozens of journalism awards. Since 2010, he has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize every year. Powerful actors, including the CIA, participated in a sophisticated attempt to dehumanize, delegitimize and arrest him." , WikiLeaks said on Twitter.
Assange was arrested on a London court warrant dated June 29, 2012, issued for failure to appear in court.
The London police came to the Embassy of Ecuador at the invitation of the ambassador, since the government of that country revoked Assange's asylum status "due to violations of international conventions and daily protocols", the Associated Press reported.
Assange took refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy seven years ago to avoid being extradited to Sweden on charges of sexual assault, which have since been dropped.
He remained at the embassy, fearing he could be extradited to the US, which is seeking him for publishing thousands of classified diplomatic and military cables through WikiLeaks.
