28 people died in a bus accident on the Portuguese island of Madeira - 11 men and 17 women. Allegedly, most of the victims are from Germany.
There were a total of 50 tourists in the bus that overturned and went off the road, writes the German "Bild".
There are not too many details about the accident, and Portuguese media are showing photos from the scene of the accident, which show firefighters around the crushed bus.
The BBC quotes eyewitnesses as saying that the driver lost control at the intersection and went off the road.
Local media reports that it is feared that the number of victims could be higher.
