Turkish authorities in Istanbul detained two intelligence agents who allegedly worked for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
Authorities are investigating the suspect's connection to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last year, according to the report.
One of them is believed to have come to Turkey after Khashoggi's murder, state broadcaster TRT said, adding that the two "admitted" to working for the UAE intelligence service.
The suspects will be tried on charges of "military, political and international espionage", according to TRT.
The Istanbul police refused to comment until the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor gave details, reports Hina.
TRT published alleged photographs of two men posing in front of the Turkish flag. The suspects are believed to have been collecting information on Arab nationals in Turkey, the report added.
The police have been looking for the suspects for the past six months, according to TRT.
The alleged agents were detained in their hotel rooms and their computers were confiscated. Khashoggi, an occasional Washington Post columnist and critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was killed on October 2.
His remains have not yet been found. Riyadh denies any involvement, while Ankara demands a full investigation into the journalist's murder.
