Turkish President Recep Erdogan called for a donor conference of Muslim countries to help Albania cope with the consequences of the earthquake.
Erdogan made the call during an opening address at the annual meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, where economic issues were discussed.
"I call on the entire Islamic world to support Albania, we must all stand by Albania in treating the injured or protecting those whose homes collapsed or were damaged," Erdogan said.
The Turkish leader added that Turkey has sent military cargo planes, emergency response teams and humanitarian aid convoys to Albania.
At least 6,4 people were killed and more than 29 injured in the magnitude 650 earthquake that hit Albania early yesterday.
