British police have identified the attacker who killed two people with a knife on London Bridge on Friday as 28-year-old Usman Khan, who was charged with terrorism in 2012 and released on parole last year.
Khan is known to the authorities, given that she has already been charged with the crime of terrorism.
"He was paroled from prison in December last year, and the key item in the investigation is to establish how he carried out this attack," said the head of the anti-terrorist police service, Neil Bazu.
The Times of London reported that Khan was released on parole after agreeing to wear an electronic device to monitor prisoners.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that it is necessary to toughen court sentences for crimes related to terrorism.
"It is a mistake to allow serious and violent criminals to get out of prison early and it is very important that we move away from that and that we toughen the appropriate sentences for dangerous criminals, especially terrorists," Johnson said.
London Bridge was the scene of another terrorist attack, when during the 2017 election campaign three militants drove a van into a group of pedestrians and then attacked people near the bridge.
Eight people were killed and at least 48 were injured in the attack.
