Turkish police announced today that they had arrested 20 people suspected of belonging to the Islamic State and added that they had intensified operations against jihadists in Istanbul ahead of the New Year.
The police made arrests on Tuesday and Wednesday at 48 locations in Istanbul, the statement said, adding that all are in custody.
It did not say what nationalities were arrested.
In an attack on New Year's Eve 2017 in a nightclub in Istanbul, one person was killed and 39 were injured.
Islamic State then claimed responsibility for the attack.
