Two Chinese citizens infected with the new coronavirus who were admitted to a hospital in Russia last month have fully recovered and have been discharged from the hospital, Russian officials announced.
With the release of the second sick patient from the hospital, Russia officially has no more cases of the new coronavirus, Kovid-19, on its territory, France Press reports.
A tourist from China who had been hospitalized in the Transbaikal region of eastern Siberia since January 26 was discharged today after a series of tests showed that he was no longer infected.
"He is perfectly healthy and poses no danger to the people around him," local health officials said.
Russian media published a video of the former patient leaving the hospital, where the head of the hospital, Sergej Yurchuk, reads him a statement stating that he is completely cured, and hands him a bottle of vitamins.
He spent two weeks in quarantine, and is now returning to his family in Chita, the capital of that Russian region.
Yesterday, a Chinese student who was also diagnosed with the new virus was discharged from the hospital in the Tyumen region of Western Siberia.
According to Russian officials, both patients had a mild form of this disease.
Several people who were in contact with these two patients are still in quarantine.
On January 31, Russia reported two cases of coronavirus disease.
