Turkey is placing a thousand members of special police forces on the border with Greece, in order to stop the return of migrants to its territory, the country's interior minister, Suleiman Soylu, announced.

He said that the Greek authorities injured 164 migrants and tried to return 4,9 thousand people back to Turkey.

"Turkey is deploying a thousand members of special units to stop the return of migrants," Sojlu told reporters at the northwestern border in Jedren, according to agencies.

Last week, Turkey decided to allow migrants to pass through to European Union (EU) countries, Greece and Bulgaria, after 33 Turkish soldiers were killed in airstrikes by the Syrian army in Idlib.

After that, more than ten thousand migrants gathered at the border between Turkey and Greece trying to enter the EU.
