Tonight, the Swiss government introduced a state of emergency in the country in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus and ordered the closure of shops, restaurants, bars and other facilities.
Food and drug stores will be open, but entertainment and leisure facilities will not, which will be closed until April 19.
The President of Switzerland, Simonetta Somaruga, said that everything possible must be done to slow down the spread of the corona virus.
She called on citizens to social distance and to respect the government's guidelines.
Switzerland previously introduced border controls for people coming from the affected areas, and has now introduced checks at the border with Germany, Austria and France.
The government has approved the use of up to 8.000 soldiers to help in hospitals and other places.
In Switzerland, more than 2.300 people have been infected with the coronavirus, of which 19 people have died.
