Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that he will soon talk again with his American colleague Donald Trump about cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic as well as the consequences for the world economy.
During a video conference with the crew of the International Space Station, which is in orbit around the Earth, Putin said that the Russian-American partnership in space research should be a model for cooperation to combat the coronavirus.
"It is an example of the effective partnership of our countries in the interest of humanity. In this way, we should organize work to solve current problems... ...the fight against the pandemic and the situation on the market is an international issue," Putin said, the Kremlin reported.
On Thursday, Trump and Putin discussed international negotiations to stabilize the oil market, which has been hit by a drastic drop in prices due to the economic crisis caused by the pandemic.
Although Russia and the USA have strained relations, their presidents have a certain mutual understanding.
Trump has on several occasions praised Putin, who has supported his American counterpart on some issues.
Putin's latest support was during the recent impeachment proceedings against Trump.
