Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today in Ankara that Turkey has reached the peak of the coronavirus infection.
Addressing officials in his ruling party, Erdogan said Turkey could return to "normal life" in June, after a holiday marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The month of Ramadan lasts until May 23, and ends with the Eid holiday.
Until then, the measures aimed at controlling the infection will be in force.
Erdogan described the pandemic as "the biggest crisis since World War II in terms of economic impact."
So far, 90.980 positive cases of coronavirus have been registered in that country, and 2.140 people have died.
Turkey imposed a weekend curfew, and those over 65 and under 20 were banned from leaving their homes on other days.
Turkish media reported today that a British plane arrived in Istanbul to pick up medical equipment destined for Great Britain.
British officials announced that much-needed personal protective equipment for medical personnel would arrive from Turkey, and that the shipment weighed 84 tons.
