German police said they arrested more than a dozen people at yesterday's protests against restrictions on measures introduced to combat the coronavirus, as some of those gatherings turned violent.
The Berlin police said today that they arrested 86 demonstrators after their members were pelted with bottles during the protest on the famous Alexanderplatz square.
One policeman was injured on Alexanderplatz, and another in an incident in front of the Reichstag building, where 45 people were arrested.
Dortmund police said they arrested a 23-year-old man who attacked a television crew during protests in the city, the third such attack in Germany in the past two weeks.
Cologne police criticized protesters in that city who called on shoppers to remove protective masks when entering stores.
"It seems as if these people still don't understand that it's not just about their health, it's about the lives of others," said Cologne's police chief.
Despite the gradual easing of emergency measures in Germany, demonstrations against the restrictions have spread, mainly involving members of far-right groups and people who believe that the coronavirus is harmless or that the crisis is part of a global conspiracy.
