Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron about his upcoming visit to Russia, the Kremlin announced today.
The announcement stated that Putin and Macron discussed relations between Russia and France, and preparations for Macron's visit to Russia, which was announced for May, when he will attend the economic forum in Saint Petersburg.
The goal of the upcoming Russian-French forum is to encourage contact between civil society.
Putin and Macron also discussed the situation in Syria, stressing the need for closer cooperation between Russia and France when it comes to dealing with the Syrian crisis.
Among the topics of discussion was the conflict in Ukraine and the implementation of the Minsk peace agreement, which was reached in 2015 with the mediation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and then French President Francois Hollande.
