WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange received a package with a white powdery substance at the Embassy of Ecuador in London, British police said, which Assange confirmed on his Twitter.
"I can confirm that the package contains an unknown powdery substance and a threat made in my name. It has been handed over to the British Diplomatic Police. I understand that toxicology and forensic analysis are underway," Julian Assange wrote on Twitter.
Assange has been in the Ecuadorian embassy since 2012, where he took refuge in order to avoid being extradited to Sweden and the USA, after the publication of US secret military and diplomatic documents in 2010, Tanjug reminds.
A British judge said on Tuesday that he will rule on February 13 to reject any action by British authorities against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who advocates for it.
The Embassy of Ecuador stated on Twitter that it will continue to provide international protection to Assange until then.
