The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, ordered the State Security Committee (KGB) to stop the activities of the organizers of street protests, reports Tanjug.
He also ordered to reveal their sources of funding, the Belta agency reported after the meeting of the country's Security Council.
"No matter how difficult it is, we have to continue working and working to the maximum extent," Lukashenko said.
He also today ordered the Ministry of Internal Affairs to end the riots in Minsk that broke out after the presidential elections held on August 9.
Lukashenko won the presidential elections in Belarus, winning 80 percent of the vote, while his opponent, Svetlana Tihanovska, got 10 percent of the vote. The opposition does not recognize the results.
Protests followed, where police and demonstrators clashed, and thousands of people were arrested.
