Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed that Russia and the US extend the New START arms control agreement for at least a year without any conditions.
The agreement expires in February 2021.
Putin proposed that during that period of one year, all parameters of arms control be discussed, "Sputnik" reports.
The New START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) was signed in 2010 and limits the number of strategic warheads, missiles and bombers that can be used by Russia and the US.
The agreement established a new regime of inspections to verify that process.
