Two Swiss citizens were arrested in Winterthur, near Zurich, in connection with the extremist attack in Vienna, the police said.
"The police investigation made it possible to identify Swiss citizens aged 18 and 24. The two men were arrested this afternoon in Winterthur, in cooperation with the Austrian authorities," announced the Zurich cantonal police.
The announcement adds that the competent authorities are now investigating possible connections between the two arrested persons and the suspect for the attacks in Vienna, reports N1.
In the terrorist attack that took place last night in the center of Vienna, five people were killed, including the attacker, and 22 were wounded, including a police officer. The slain attacker was identified as Fejzulai Kujtim, a XNUMX-year-old dual citizen of Austria and North Macedonia, who was previously convicted of terrorism for attempting to join the Islamic State extremist group in Syria.
In the search of more than 15 houses, 14 people connected to the attacker were arrested, said Austrian Minister of the Interior Karl Nehamer.
