An earthquake measuring five degrees on the Richter scale hit the city of Sirte in southeastern Turkey, the Turkish Disaster Management Authority and the US Geological Survey said.
The Directorate for Disasters and Emergency Situations AFAD announced that there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the earthquake that occurred this morning at a depth of 20 kilometers, reports AP.
Turkey, which is in a seismic zone, has already been hit by two powerful earthquakes this year - one that hit the western port city of Izmir last month, killing 117 people, and another in Elazig province, which killed 41 people.
