The mayor of the Belgian city of Antwerp, Bart De Wever, had an unpleasant start to the new year when he was caught not wearing pants during an interview, reports Politiko.
"You are wearing a very nice shirt, you probably chose it especially for us. But under the shirt, are you wearing underwear?", Radio 2 journalist Kim Debri asked the mayor during an online interview.
During the interview, De Vever sat in front of a mirror, where the reflection showed that he was wearing no pants.
He asked the reporter how she noticed it, but the next moment he realized he was sitting in front of a mirror.
"I didn't notice. This year begins with this shameful moment that I will remember for a long time," the mayor said in the program.
De Vever is the leader of the separatist New Flemish Alliance and one of the most powerful politicians in Belgium.
