Oxford University scientists are preparing to produce new versions of the vaccine as soon as possible, which will be able to deal with more infectious strains of the coronavirus.
According to the British Telegraph, the team behind the vaccine from Oxford and AstraZeneca is conducting feasibility studies to adapt the technology to produce new versions of the vaccine.
A spokesperson for the university said that Oxford is closely monitoring the impact of new coronavirus strains discovered in the UK, South Africa and Brazil on the immunity provided by their vaccine and is evaluating the processes needed to adapt vaccines as quickly as possible to combat covid-19 mutations, reports Tanjug.
The newspaper recalls that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the national drug regulatory body would be ready to give approval for new versions of the covid-19 vaccine developed to counter new variants of the coronavirus that may appear in the future.
