Dutch police arrested a suspect for yesterday's knife attacks in Maastricht in which two people were killed and two more injured.
"The 37-year-old suspect knew at least one of the victims," said police spokesman Jack van Cleef, adding that these findings are subject to further investigation.
He was arrested Thursday night at a mosque in Maastricht shortly after he killed a man and a woman and wounded two others in two separate attacks.
The attacker is in the hospital with a minor head injury and the police have not yet questioned him.
The identity of the victims was not released, and Klef could not confirm that the victims were of Syrian origin.
The police said it was not a case of terrorism.
