Russia announced today that it has barred entry into the country for several US officials and senior members of President Joseph Biden's administration.
The Secretaries of Justice and Homeland Security, Merrick Garland and Alejandro Mallorcas, Domestic Policy Advisor Susan Rice, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray, and Director of Intelligence Avril Haynes were denied entry.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that the entry ban also applies to the head of the Office of Prisons Michael Carjavala, former adviser to Donald Trump John Bolton and former head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Robert Volsey.
According to the ministry, those officials "participated in the implementation of the anti-Russian line" followed by American policy.
The ministry decided to publish the list of persons declared undesirable, which is usually kept secret, because of the "unprecedented" tensions caused by Washington.
Russia will expel five Polish diplomats
Russian authorities announced today that they will expel five Polish diplomats in response to a similar measure implemented by Poland in solidarity with the US, which has imposed sanctions on Russia.
"We noticed how quickly Warsaw accepted the American administration's game by demanding the departure of three Russian diplomats from Poland. In return, five Polish diplomats will be expelled from Russia," said the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Polish authorities announced on Thursday that they will expel three diplomats in solidarity with the US.
The US government on Thursday announced a series of financial sanctions against Russia and the expulsion of ten Russian diplomats in response to cyber attacks and Russian interference in the 2020 US presidential election.
