German police have arrested six people linked to Islamic State who were allegedly planning an attack on Christmas bazaars.
They are Syrian citizens who were arrested after a raid carried out by 500 police officers in four German cities.
They were arrested in the cities of Kassel, Hanover, Essen and Leipzig, they are between 20 and 28 years old, and they arrived in Germany seeking asylum between December 2014 and September 2015.
Police say they are believed to have planned an attack on Christmas markets in the northwest of the country using weapons and explosives.
