About 250 demonstrators gathered on Tuesday evening in front of the reception centers in the Dutch village of Harskamp, to express their dissatisfaction with the arrival of refugees from Afghanistan.
The protest was initially peaceful, but tensions escalated, and the police were forced to intervene, the BBC reports.
Part of the demonstrators sang nationalist songs, pointed out offensive banners and burned tires in front of the reception center, which is located within the military camp.
It is reported that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, which took place outside one of the four reception centers for Afghan refugees in the Netherlands.
About 800 refugees from Afghanistan will be accommodated in Harskamp, and the first group arrived on Tuesday afternoon.
