Ukraine, faced with a new wave of the coronavirus epidemic and a weak response to vaccination, today recorded 546 deaths as a result of infection with the corona virus, surpassing the highest number of deaths recorded the previous day, according to new official data.
In addition, 24 new infections were recorded in the previous 22.415 hours, also the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic.
Ukrainian authorities have introduced new health restrictions. From today, passengers on buses, trains and planes are required to submit a vaccination certificate or a negative PCR test.
Many regions also require a health pass to enter indoor public places.
Due to the new measures, Ukrainians have been heading to vaccination centers in greater numbers in recent days.
Thus, a new record of vaccines given since the beginning of vaccination in February was registered today, with 251.254 vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
Four vaccines are available in the country, but only 19 percent of the approximately 41 million inhabitants are fully vaccinated, according to official data.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Ukraine has recorded more than 2,7 million people infected with the coronavirus and more than 62.000 deaths.
