Two cases of infection with the new micron strain of coronavirus, which is believed to be more contagious, have been confirmed in Great Britain today, while many countries have already banned flights with countries in South Africa where the new strain was discovered and spread in the last 14 days.
British Health Minister Sajid Javid confirmed that two people tested positive for the omicron strain.
One case was discovered in Chelmsford, the other in Nottingham among people who traveled to South Africa, Javid said.
He said that passengers arriving from Angola, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia will have to undergo a 10-day quarantine.
The government of South Africa today expressed its displeasure at the "punishment" of the country after the decision of many countries to close their borders to travelers from southern Africa, where a new strain of micron was discovered.
The new strain of coronavirus was first identified by South African scientists, but it is not certain that it appeared in South Africa.
