Catalan leader Carles Puigemon today called on the Senate of the Spanish Parliament to reject measures to take control of the Spanish region proposed by the central government in Madrid. In the document submitted to the Senate today, it is written that Madrid is trying to solve the crisis "by trying to provoke an even more difficult situation by taking away the political autonomy of Catalonia". At tomorrow's session, the Senate of Spain's parliament is expected to approve taking control of Catalonia, including removing its government and calling elections, to prevent the region from becoming independent. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said he wants to use special constitutional powers to replace deputies in the regional parliament and call early elections as soon as possible.
