The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) forbids the participation of all Russian and Belarusian national teams, athletes, clubs and officials in European competitions, the association announced today.
It is stated that the decision will take effect immediately and will last until further notice.
"The CEV Board of Directors, following the initial decision to remove official events from Russia, has decided that Russian and Belarusian national teams, clubs, athletes and officials are not eligible to participate in any CEV indoor, beach and snow volleyball competition."
The administrative board of the CEV has suspended all members of the national federations of Russia and Belarus from their positions in the bodies of the CEV until further notice.
"In these unprecedented circumstances, the European volleyball family hopes to improve the situation so that volleyball can return to fulfill its role and mission of bringing people together in the spirit of fair play, friendship and mutual respect," the European Volleyball Confederation announced.
