A court in Moscow has banned the social networks Facebook and Instagram from operating on the territory of Russia due to, as it is stated, the spread of extremism, reports Reuters.
This decision comes into force immediately, the court's decision says.
Judge Ogla Solopova made the decision at the request of the Russian prosecution.
The ban does not apply to WhatsApp, which is also owned by Meta, as well as Facebook and Instagram.
