Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the continuation of telephone conversations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
"I plan to negotiate with Putin this Sunday," Erdogan told reporters, RIA Novosti reports.
On April 26, the two presidents discussed the situation in Ukraine, and at the end of March, negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations were held in Istanbul.
Erdogan added that decisions regarding eastern Ukraine will be made in Turkey during a possible meeting between Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Our desire is to bring the presidents of Russia and Ukraine to Istanbul or Ankara. Turkey will be the place where decisions will be made regarding eastern Ukraine," Erdogan said.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not rule out the possibility of a meeting between Putin and Zelensky, but added that everything should be completely ready for the talks to bring results.
