Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree suspending Russia's economic, scientific and technical ties with North Korea, in accordance with the sanctions imposed by the United Nations on Pyongyang in November 2016.
Putin's decree was published today on the state Russian portal, and it contains various restrictions on trade and transport links, as well as financial transactions with North Korea.
Russia and China have backed UN sanctions against Pyongyang over its nuclear and missile programs, although Moscow has said the sanctions must not harm ordinary people.
Moscow and Beijing proposed to mediate the suspension of Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs, but with the suspension of military maneuvers by the US and South Korea.
